Students at Arbour Vista PS rose to the challenge during We Scare Hunger

October 31, 2019

GUELPH, Ontario – Students at Arbour Vista Public School have been busy collecting food items for the We Scare Hunger food drive.

The food drive was presented to students as a challenge, not for a prize but to reinforce the spirit of giving.

The grade 5/6 and grade 6 class at the school took on the initiative. Students were responsible for counting the food items and even turned it into a data management project.

In support of We Scare Hunger the school celebrated hat day, crazy sock day, jersey day, pyjama day and costume day.

Many students joined in on the initiative, one purchased food with their own money, one reviewed flyers to ensure purchases were well made and one family donated more than 900 items.

At the end of the day on October 31, the school had collected 3,920 food items for the Guelph Food Bank.

Great job Arbour Vista!
