Taylor Evans PS workshop to help families balance technology and wellness

March 28, 2018

GUELPH, Ontario – Next month, Taylor Evans PS School Council is hosting a workshop for parents, guardians and school community members.

The Balancing Technology and Wellness event will take place at the school on April 17 between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m.

The event is targeted to parents and guardians who feel like their loved ones spend more time in front of a screen than with each other.

The goal of the event is to teach people how to create a balanced relationship with technology and to discover tips on coping in a fast-paced environment.

Speaking at the event will be Michelle Nogueira. Nogueira is an addiction specialist through Homewood Community Addictions Services as well as an instructor with the Faculty of Social Work with Wilfred Laurier University. She is also the author of the book My Parents aren’t Noobs!

Nogueira will discuss the role of technology in children’s lives and will provide practical and helpful strategies to promote healthy gaming habits.

The event will include activities for all ages including yoga, arts and crafts and more. This evening is being funded by a PRO Grant.
