Two GCVI students awarded National Scholarships

GUELPH, ON – Two Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute students have recently received National Scholarships from the University of Waterloo.   

Lucas Z and William X were each named recipients of Math Scholarships. Each year the University of Waterloo awards 10 National Scholarships to first year students and this year, students from GCVI took home two of them!  

Lucas and William each received an entrance scholarship for mathematics. Lucas’ scholarship is $15,000 and William’s $12,000. These scholarships will be divided equally over their eight terms at the university.  

According to the University of Waterloo’s website, “These scholarships are open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada only. The typical candidate will have a distinguished academic standing, especially in mathematics, as well as a record of accomplishments in mathematics and/or computer science contests throughout high school.”  

Lucas will be studying Computer Science next year and William will be studying Actuarial Science.
