UGDSB Elementary students came together for the annual Regional Skills Canada competition

GUELPH, Ontario – On April 6, students from 61 elementary schools in the Upper Grand District School Board came together for the Regional Skills Canada competition.

This year, the UGDSB set a new record with 1,260 students competing in 327 teams and participating in 13 different events. Teams gathered in Guelph at College Heights SS, Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute and the Centennial Arena for the competition.

Every year the UGDSB organizes a Regional Skills Canada competition for students in grades 4 to 8. The competition includes such challenges as:

The Skills competition is designed to allow students to apply their knowledge of math, science and technology in a fun, engaging and hands-on way. The challenges are designed to encourage collaboration, problem solving, creativity, innovation and much more.

Teams were excited to put their skills to the test in this fun creative way. The winning teams from each event will move on to the provincial competition in May.
