UGDSB students capture 5 gold medals at provincial skills competition

GUELPH, Ontario – Students from the Upper Grand District School Board had a strong showing at the provincial skills competition, taking home medals and securing their spots at the national competition.

The Ontario Technological Skills Competition (OTSC) for secondary students was held from May 2 to 4 at RIM Park in Waterloo.

Upper Grand students won five gold medals in a variety of events.

Silver medal winners:

Julia, Zachary, Dillon and Jade will now head to the Skills Canada national competition, which will be held from June 5 to 8 in Moncton, New Brunswick (unfortunately, there is no national competition in Computer Aided Manufacturing). More than 500 students will compete in more than 40 skilled trade and technology challenges. It’s the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in Canada.
