Upper Grand schools raise more than $118,600 for the Terry Fox Foundation

GUELPH, Ontario — Upper Grand schools raised a total of $118,654.85 for the fight against cancer during the 2010 Terry Fox Run.

Leading the way in the secondary school category was Centennial CVI, which brought in $11,959.21. John McCrae Public School was first in the elementary schools raising $5,944.00.

Second place finishers were John F. Ross CVI with $10,900.11 and Kortright Hills Public School with a total of $5,478.61. Erin District High School with $5,991.25 in total, and Kortright Hills PS with $5,478.61 earned the third place finish in the secondary and elementary categories.

As of the middle of April, 41 Upper Grand schools have registered for the 2011 National School Run Day which will be held on Wednesday September 28, 2011.

The board and its predecessors have supported the run for the past three decades. Last year 3,796 schools across Canada participated in fund raising events providing thousands of students with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

The Terry Fox Foundation is a volunteer driven organization that directs 87 cents out of every dollar raised directly to the cause. For more information the foundation’s website is www.terryfox.org.
