November 22, 2023

GUELPH, ON – On November 15, 2023, Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) students from Centre Wellington District High School embarked on an exciting journey into the realm of videography at the Ed Video Media Arts Centre.

This hands-on experience not only introduced students to the technical aspects of filmmaking but also nurtured their creativity and provided them with a glimpse into the dynamic world of media arts.

Ed Video’s Technical Director Elia Morrison and Workshop Director Stephanie Badoe accompanied students while they learned to use a variety of professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment, with the end goal of creating a documentary-style video.

Videography is a collaborative art, and students experienced the power of teamwork by unanimously deciding the colour and placement of lighting, shot types, and the script for their video.

Beyond acquiring technical skills, UG students gained confidence in their ability to convey meaningful stories through visual mediums. The workshop not only served as a gateway to the world of media arts but also inspired students to consider the role of videography in their personal and academic journeys.

The experience at Ed Video left a lasting impact on the SHSM students, igniting a passion for videography and creative expression.
