Upper Grand students take medals at Ontario Technological Skills Competition

GUELPH, Ontario — They participated in 23 events ranging from Auto Collision Repair to TV & Video Production, facing off against regional gold medal winners from across the province.

Thirty-two competitors from the Upper Grand District School Board traveled to RIM Park in Waterloo on May 6-8 for the Ontario Technological Skills Competition.

Individuals and teams from three Upper Grand schools came away with medals.

Wellington Heights Secondary School from Mount Forest took Gold in the Home and Team Building competition. The team of four students demonstrated their top-notch skills and knowledge of residential home construction, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical and the proper use of safety equipment and materials. All competitors in the two-day event also came prepared with their resumes for a 5-minute job interview. Taking home the medal were Connor G., Willson F., Steven A. and Ford M., with  teacher Jeff Verbeek.
