MEDIA RELEASE

For Immediate Release
January 10, 2013

GUELPH, Ontario – Parents should watch their child’s elementary school website today or the Upper Grand District School Board website – www.ugdsb.ca – for any changes to the planned elementary teachers’ day of political protest on Friday, January 11, 2013.

If the day of protest is cancelled this message will be provided to the community through these channels and the media.

The Ontario Labour Relations Board will hear the Ontario government’s application to have the proposed teachers action declared an “illegal strike” beginning at 3:00 p.m. today. The Ministry of Education has communicated to all school boards that it is hopeful that a decision will be reached quickly.

The most current information on any changes to the day of political protest is through the board’s website, elementary school websites and the hot line at 519-827-2089. The media will also be notified.
