WHSS program teaches Victoria Cross students about healthy eating

December 12, 2016

MOUNT FOREST, Ontario – Students at Wellington Heights Secondary School and Victoria Cross Public School were recently featured in the Mount Forest Confederate for their participation in a program that encourages healthy eating.

Students from WHSS’s Raising Healthy Children class ran a three-day program, teaching Victoria Cross students in grades 1 through 8 how to create a healthy snack.

Using their knowledge of portion sizes and the Canada Food Guide, WHSS students researched recipes and focused on different skills for the younger students, based on their age.

It was the students’ hope that their message about healthy eating would be better received coming from peers.
