CCVI raises money to help Syrian families settle in Guelph

July 15, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – The staff and students at Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute have made a generous donation to the Refugee Sponsorship Forum.

In a post published to their blog this week, members of the Refugee Sponsorship Forum thanked CCVI for their support.

The money donated, more than $3,500, was raised at arts events hosted by the school throughout the year. The spARTans Showcase in particular, where various members of the arts community come together for an evening of entertainment, raised nearly $1,000 for Syrian refugees coming to Guelph.

A number of different groups contributed to the donation, including the Entrepreneurship class, the Arts Department, the school staff and the teacher’s union.

The Refugee Sponsorship Forum said the money will help them provide continuing support for sponsorship groups as newcomer families arrive and settle in Guelph.
