Graduating students to meet potential employers at Youth Employment Opportunity Fair

For Immediate Release
May 9, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – High school students who are about to graduate will have the chance to meet with potential employers at a unique job fair.

The Upper Grand District School Board’s Youth Employment Opportunity Fair will be held on May 24 in Guelph. It runs with support from the Career Education Council, Specialist High Skills Major Program and 2nd Chance Employment Counselling.

The event connects students completing grade 12 with local employers who are currently recruiting for positions that will start when the school year is complete.

About 50% of UGDSB students enter the workforce directly out of high school – the board wants youth to see that as a world of opportunity.

Employers may be recruiting for summer, part-time, full-time or entry-level career opportunities. Students will bring their resumes with them, and there will be opportunities for interviews on the spot at the fair.

EVENT DETAILS:

The Opportunity Fair is open to students from all UGDSB secondary schools.
