Local flight school wants to inspire next generation of females in aviation

January 22, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – Have you ever wondered what it would be like to soar in the clouds?

Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is inviting girls of all ages to a free aviation event, to ignite in them a passion for flying.

The event, Girls CAN Fly!, is a celebration of women in aviation and coincides with International Women’s Day. WWFC is hoping to inspire more girls to get excited about aviation.

The not-for-profit flight school boasts a state of the art facility located at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

On Saturday March 5, daughters, sisters, nieces, cousins and friends are encouraged to get their hands on interactive aviation exhibits, meet female pilots and take a local sightseeing flight.

Exhibits include flight simulators, GPS demos and the chance to sit at the controls of a real plane.

The event is free to attend, but those interested in taking a sightseeing flight must register in advance. Online registration for the tours opens on Friday Jan. 22.
