GUELPH, Ontario – A group of grade 5 students at Montgomery Village Public School had the opportunity to participate in a unique field trip as a part of the GrandPals project.
The GrandPals project was initially created by Montgomery Village PS five years ago and now involves other schools and organizations. GrandPals was designed to bring students and seniors together. The GrandPals project involves a network of seniors, students, educators, retirement residences and more. GrandPals has helped create friendships, opportunities and amazing learning experiences for everyone involved.
As part of this exciting field trip, students were led on personalized tours of the Dufferin Museum in Mulmur by seniors from the local seniors centre. Students were engaged during these tours and were happy to learn.
During the field trip, the student-authored book, Once Upon a Wednesday, was archived into the Dufferin Museum. Once Upon a Wednesday, was authored by Montgomery Village PS students and features the stories of seniors from the local area.
