Child care spaces announced for Rockwood and Erin

For Immediate Release
November 25, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – New child care spaces are coming to Upper Grand District School Board schools in Erin and Rockwood.

The Ontario government is creating three new licensed child care spaces in Wellington County, increasing the availability of safe and high-quality child care for local families and promoting early learning and development.

On Friday, Liz Sandals, MPP, was at Rockwood Centennial Public School in Rockwood to make the announcement that Rockwood Centennial PS, Erin Public School and Sacred Heart Catholic School will receive funding to create new child care spaces.

In the Upper Grand DSB, Rockwood Centennial and Erin PS will each receive three licensed child care rooms and 49 spaces.

These spaces are part of the 3,400 new licensed child care spaces the province is investing in this year. It’s a step toward creating 100,000 more spaces within the next five years, which would double the current capacity for 0-4 year olds in licensed child care.

The new spaces will help provide accessible child care for UGDSB families in the communities of Rockwood and Erin.
