CHSS construction students build shelters for stray cats

November 18, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – Amazing work continues by students in College Heights Secondary School’s construction class.

The school was recently contacted by an employee of an auto parts business in Guelph. The employee was looking to acquire a shelter for stray cats that live behind the downtown business.

Remembering the work CHSS construction students have done in the past, building life-saving shelters for dogs in northern Ontario, she contacted the school and asked if it would be able to help out.

The grade 9/10 construction students jumped at the request and built three shelters.

Students were creative in the design and even installed a loft inside for the cats, knowing they like to climb. They used off-cuts of plywood and created a board and batten style on the exterior of the shelters.

The shelters were delivered to the business this week.

Great work Huskies!
