UPDATE: Cyber incident related to some school yearbooks

We would like to provide you with an update regarding the cyber security breach we notified you of on February 9, 2024. Edge Imaging (a yearbook provider) has asked for our assistance in sharing additional information with the school community.
Earlier this month, via the school board, Edge Imaging notified schools and school boards of a ransom attack on one of their 3rd party yearbook software providers.
Edge Imaging has now been advised that the software provider, working through their cyber security expert advisors, have secured the return of all the Canadian photo files, along with the commitment of the threat actors that the photo files have been deleted, and were not distributed.
Their team has engaged web monitoring services to help ensure the files do not appear on the internet, and has undertaken a series of rigorous security checks by 3rd party experts to help prevent further incidents.

GUELPH, ON – We have been notified by Edge Imaging (a yearbook provider) that one of their subcontractors has suffered a cyber security breach, affecting the following six UGDSB schools.
- Centennial CVI
- Guelph CVI
- Wellington Heights SS
- Centre Dufferin DHS
- Edward Johnson PS
- Ken Danby PS

Cyber Incident Related to School Yearbooks
We have been informed that the yearbook software service provider used, Creator Studio Pro, has been the subject of a cyber incident. Photos that were uploaded to this platform for the school’s 2022/23 and 2023/24 yearbooks may have been compromised. This means that any photos collected for potential use in the yearbook may have been accessed in the incident. We are advised that only photos have been accessed, and no other identifying information such as school, grade, name or location were affected by the cyber incident.
