GUELPH, Ontario – The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) class of 2022 at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute has, once again, exceeded the IB world average and scored impressive results.

The highest possible score for an IB Diploma is 45 points. The GCVI IB class average this year was 35.3 points compared to the world average of 31.98 points. Now in its fifth year of offering the IB Diploma, GCVI’s average has consistently been above the world average. This year, each of the 58 students earned their Diploma with 10 students (17%) earning 40 points or more. The highest points total earned was 43.

In addition to these results, GCVI’s IB students were also leaders throughout the two-year program, having an impact on local and global issues. The GCVI IB students also held executive positions on school clubs such as Student Senate, the Black Student Union and Alliance, DECA, the Athletic Council, Acts of Random Kindness and the Social Justice Club.

The success of the IB students and admirable results reflect the dedication of the IB staff and students at GCVI. With the support of staff, the IB cohort persevered through this challenging year and embraced the demands presented by the rigour of the IBDP.
