Get a tee, save a bee: Ottawa Crescent students fundraising to help bee population

November 21, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – A group of grade 4 to 6 students at Ottawa Crescent Public School decided they wanted to make a difference in the world. The students, who are part of the art club at Ottawa Crescent, heard that bees are now endangered, this served as their motivation to make a difference.

Bees are an important part of our world and are often undervalued. One third of the food we consume is dependent on a pollinator and a further 85% of the earth’s plants exist because of bees. If bees were to go extinct, crops that feed us would no longer exist. Based on this knowledge, these students started Tees 4 Bees.

The Tees 4 Bees shirts are all hand screen printed by students in the art club. The t-shirt currently featured by Tees 4 Bees was designed by Nancy, a grade 6 student. Sizes are available in small to x-large. The proceeds of each t-shirt sold will allow students to create pollinator friendly gardens and will help fund honey bee research.

These students are determined to help bee populations thrive again. For more information and to help support the initiative, visit the Tees 4 Bees website.
