Elementary Identified Schools Report

The Elementary Identified School Report is presented annually to the board and identifies those schools that are overcapacity and under capacity by comparing enrolment projections for the next school year against the Ministry’s on-the-ground capacity rating for each school (bricks and mortar building, excluding portables). Thirteen percent of the schools are overcrowded (8), 58% are neither over or underutilized (38), and 28% of the schools are under-crowded (18).

Secondary Identified Schools Report

As in the Elementary Report, the Secondary Identified Schools Report measures the projected enrolment for the coming school year as compared to school on-the-ground capacity. Six of 11 secondary schools are at 100% occupancy or more. Only one school is under capacity. The average capacity for the secondary schools in the UGDSB is 97.7%. Centre Peel Secondary School, which has one classroom in Centre Peel Elementary School, is not included in the count because of its unique circumstances.

Interim Financial Reporting as at March 31, 2015

This the second Interim Financial Report presented to the board for the 2014-2015 school year. It measures the percentage of the budget used to March 31, 2015 with the percentage used from the previous year (2013-2014). Enrolment is down 119 students as compared to the budget, based on actual numbers from October 31, 2014 and March 31, 2015. The percentage of the budget used is 60.7% compared with last year at the same time as 60.0%. Most of the variances are in the Staff Development line, where there is extra funding from the Ministry in the Education Projects Other (EPO) grants spent on Ministry-identified projects.

Career Education Council

Lori Arsenault, who manages the Career Education Council for the Wellington Catholic and Upper Grand boards has accepted another position and is leaving the CEC. The board chair will write a letter of thanks to her.
