Ontario Student Trustees’ Association releases ‘The Student Platform’ ahead of 2018 election

GUELPH, Ontario – Following extensive consultation with students across the province, the Ontario Student Trustees’ Association (OSTA-AECO) has developed The Student Platform in preparation for the 2018 provincial election.

The Student Platform outlines a strategy to improve Ontario’s education system and ensure that Ontario’s youth are better prepared for the unique opportunities and challenges of the modern workforce.

In November 2017, OSTA-AECO conducted the Student Survey, an online survey of 8,230 students from 62 school boards in Ontario. The report also includes data collected from the Ontario Student, Parent, Educator Survey Official 2017 Report.

The Student Platform is based on three pillars that serve as the foundation of a strong education system:

  1. Student Well-being
  2. 21st Century Learning
  3. Equitable Access to Opportunities

The Student Platform provides 16 policy recommendations to turn the student’s vision of the ideal education system into reality. For a copy of the full platform, please visit OSTA-AECO’s website at www.osta-aeco.org.
