Rickson Ridge PS student wins annual Pi Day Contest

March 20, 2024

GUELPH, ON – March 14 of each year is dedicated to Pi Day. Originating in 1988 by physicist Larry Shaw, math enthusiasts around the globe use the day to look at Pi or indulge in eating a slice of pie.

In honour of Pi Day, Rickson Ridge Public School grade 7 math teacher, Susan Stone, holds a competition for students to see who can recite the most digits of Pi.

This year a student named Yifan broke the record for the school by memorizing 409 digits for the annual Pi Day contest! This win defeated the previous school record set by a student in 2019 with 327 digits memorized.

Great work, Yifan!
