See how UGDSB walks, bikes and rolls to school

October 4, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – Damp weather didn’t dampen the spirits of Upper Grand District School Board staff, students and families who celebrated active transportation on Wednesday.

October 4 was International Walk to School Day. UGDSB students joined kids from more than 40 countries in walking, biking or scooting to and from school. This October, the UGDSB is also celebrating Walk at School Month, which is geared to students who ride a bus to school.

This year, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Active and Safe Routes to School (ASRTS) hosted an event with staff and students from Jean Little Public School and St. Michael Catholic School. School and board staff, students and families, Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie, members of the Guelph Hurricanes hockey team, and more met early in the morning at University Village Park to kick off the event.

Although the rain came halfway through the walk, everyone still walked and rolled with smiles on their faces.
