Students across the globe celebrate the International Day of Pink

April 10, 2024

GUELPH, ON – April 10 is the International Day of Pink where communities across globe will unite to celebrate diversity and raise awareness to stop homophobia, transphobia, transmisogyny, discrimination and all forms of bullying. The theme of the 2024 International Day of Pink is “Visibility.”

According to the International Day of Pink website, “For this year’s theme, we’re marking the anniversaries of three incredible milestones: the birth of the Trans flag, the Brunswick Four, and the Depathologization of Homosexuality. We’re honoured to have amazing advocates joining us throughout our visibility journey. Together, we’re set to celebrate a day filled with empowerment, authenticity, and the amazing power of unity.” The website continues to say, “On April 10th, 2024, let’s celebrate visibility in all its forms – being seen, acknowledged, respected, and listened to. It’s about standing tall and embracing our true selves. Because there is nothing more beautiful than being who you truly are.”

On April 10, join UG students and staff as we wear pink in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Schools are encouraged to share pictures of how they are standing together to prevent bullying using the hashtag #dayofpink with @UpperGrand (Instagram) and @UGDSB (X).
