Students at WHSS raise money for Warm Winter Wishes campaign

February 13, 2023

MOUNT FOREST, ON — The Wolverines at Wellington Heights Secondary School are spreading warm winter wishes for families in their community.

This year’s Warm Winter Wishes campaign – spearheaded by WHSS teacher, Christiane Lopez and her Business Leadership class – managed to raise over $16,000 for families in the Wellington North community. In order to raise the money, the students organized events such as the movie and hockey buy-out, spicy food challenges, silent auctions, chili cook off, donut sales, a bottle drive, and dodgeball tournament.

In addition to the money raised, the student council organized a food drive competition and a total of 835 items were donated to local food banks. The Mount Forest Foodland also matched the generosity of the students at WHSS by donating toys to the campaign as well.
