Supporting Students and Staff: Crisis in the Middle East

May 22, 2021

The current crisis in the Middle East deeply affects millions of people including many in the Upper Grand District School Board. This violence and conflict may cause pain and trauma to many in our communities.

These events can cause stress and worry about the safety of families and loved ones, both at home and abroad.

We want to ensure that students, staff and families are supported during this extremely painful and difficult time. We all have a responsibility to ensure that our school communities are inclusive and safe for all, free of oppression and hate.

If you or someone you know is struggling or needs someone to talk to, supports are available both within our schools and within our communities.

UGDSB Support Services staff are available to support students and can be arranged through students’ classroom teacher.

We encourage anyone in need of assistance to reach out for support and for everyone to support those around them.
