UGDSB Equity Team releases 2020-2021 Equity Calendar

GUELPH, Ontario – The Upper Grand District School Board Equity Department has created the 2020-2021 Equity and Inclusion Calendar for school staff, students and community members.

For many staff, students and families, this has been and continues to be a very challenging year. Now more than ever, we have an opportunity and obligation as a public school board to ensure that we hear, respond to and make changes within our policies and practices that further create safe and inclusive work and learning environments. 

This year’s equity and inclusion calendar includes brief explanations of some dates of importance created by students of the UGDSB, located at the front of the calendar. In addition to being a great resource, this calendar will help all staff in all roles at the board in their informed inclusive planning.

Although the calendar is not a complete list of days of importance, it is a great source of information that can be used by staff, students and community members to support anti-racism and anti-oppression initiative and actions.

The board would like to thank the students and staff at Orangeville District Secondary School and Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute who worked on the faith and culture descriptions as well as those who have provided dates, edited and provided feedback during the process of making this calendar.
