#UGMEWeek – A look back at Mental Health and Education Week
May 7, 2021
GUELPH, Ontario – May 3-7 was Mental Health and Education Week. At the Upper Grand District School Board, we have been reflecting all week by showcasing the celebration of learning, wellness and community in a virtual world.
Throughout the week, the UGDSB shared examples of how our schools have come together this year in a celebration of education and mental health.
Examples that we shared throughout the week included outdoor learning opportunities, safe food drives to support the community, virtual engagement through reading and mental health initiatives that schools have started or expanded upon this year.
As part of the event, we asked our schools and community to share with us through social media during the week. We saw a lot of feedback from our community, some examples include:

We all have a need to be heard! Today in 3A @CentralPSGuelph we talked about how we feel when we are heard or not heard, and brainstormed ways to communicate that we are listening. Great reminders for all of us this Mental Health Week! #letstalk #letslisten #UGMEweek @ugdsb pic.twitter.com/65oJIdoqeA

As we Celebrate, Learning, Wellness and Community during Mental Health & Education Week @ugdsb I am reflecting on the necessity of @ugdsbequity to be integrated in Mental Health work so we can better foster community & wellness for marginalized folks. #UGMEweek #LearnMoreDoBetter pic.twitter.com/frdIAIL7E8
