#WeAllHaveAbility – This January make a difference with someone in your community

January 8, 2020

Did you know that according to Statistics Canada, in 2017, 13% of Canadian youth aged 15-24 identified with at least one disability?

Among youth with disabilities, 60% had a mental health-related issue. Furthermore, among youth, women are twice as likely as men to have a mental health related disability.

Accessibility Challenge:

This January, when you are out in your home or school neighbourhood, pay attention to your surroundings and think about the ways in which you can offer assistance to those neighbours who may need a little extra help.

This challenge could be something as simple as helping a neighbour bring their garbage cans back up their driveway or something more like offering to help shovel a neighbour’s driveway.

Let us know how you were able to help a neighbour by tweeting @ugdsb using #WeAllHaveAbility.
