December 12, 2018

ORANGEVILLE, Ontario – It’s been another incredible year of generosity at Westside Secondary School.

On December 11, the Breast Cancer Society of Canada (BCSC) announced that Westside is the top fundraiser for the 2018 Dress for the Cause campaign. This announcement means that Westside SS has achieved the place of top fundraiser for four years in a row.

According to the Dress for the Cause press release, “Dress for the Cause, supporting Brest Cancer Awareness, has raised more than $10 Million for Canadian breast cancer research.”

On November 2, Westside SS hosted their 14th annual Pink Day Fundraiser at the school. Since 2004, students and staff at the school have raised tens of thousands of dollars through this fundraiser for the BCSC.

During the November event, staff and students at the school raised $23,835 for Dress for the Cause, making them the top fundraiser for four years in a row and bringing the cumulative total raised to more than $160,000.

CEO of BCSC Kimberly Carson said, “We appreciate Westside Secondary School students, faculty and administration for their tremendous dedication and hard work to make Pink Day such a success. We are inspired by the continued spirit and commitment of the Westside Secondary School community and are grateful to everyone who donated their time and money. Thank you for sharing in our mission to save lives through breast cancer research.”
