Guelph Fire Department and Upper Grand take fire safety lessons across Canada

New elementary school in East Guelph to get head start in former Tytler PS

A new elementary school on Couling Crescent in East Guelph is beginning to take shape before shovels hit the ground. At a special board meeting on February 10 trustees of the Upper Grand District School Board voted unanimously to create an interim boundary for the proposed JK-8 French Immersion (FI) Centre. The motion passed by trustees was one of a set of staff recommendations designed to address the issue of rapidly increasing enrolment at École Edward Johnson Public School in Guelph.

CHSS students build doghouses for northern dogs in Aboriginal communities

Two students work on assembling a dog house frame using a drillCollege Heights Secondary School (CHSS) students are building 30 doghouses over the next few weeks that will be shipped to Northern Ontario Aboriginal communities in a unique partnership with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), Habitat for Humanity and the Upper Grand District School Board.

Guelph has prompted the Upper Grand District School Board to consider a
number of options for relieving enrolment pressure, including temporary
use of the former Tytler Public School.

Trustees face decision as staff recommend closure of Kenilworth PS

GUELPH, Ontario – The staff of the Upper Grand District School Board will recommend to trustees that Kenilworth Public School be closed as of September 2015. Under the proposed scenario, referred to as Option 3 in the report, Kenilworth students south of Side Road 3 would attend Arthur PS, and students north of Side Road 3 would attend Victoria Cross PS.
