Conflict in the Middle East: Supports for students and staff
October 12, 2023
In light of the ongoing and developing situation in the Middle East including potential global demonstrations tomorrow, we would like to remind all UGDSB staff, students and families of the supports we have in place that they may access.
Our thoughts continue to be with all those impacted and mourning the loss of life during the conflict. We acknowledge this is a particularly devastating time for UGDSB students, staff and families who are connected to the region. These students and communities need our support, understanding, compassion, and care.
Resources:
- Supportive Conversations with Students during Challenging World Events
- Ways to Help Students in Response to World Events
- Helping Kids Cope with Media Coverage of War and Traumatic Events

Individuals will be impacted differently based on their lived experiences. We know that some students and staff may need extra support in the days and weeks ahead. Please monitor students’ needs and well-being; check in with students as needed.
Please review the resource documents shared above, access mental health supports through the community or through the school, and reach out if you require additional support.
