Grade 8 students to meet employers, learn about priority job sectors at Career Pathways Dufferin

GUELPH, Ontario – The Career Education Council of Guelph-Wellington-Dufferin is hosting an event to provide students with insights and inspiration around various career options.

The interactive career event will showcase local businesses and organizations and the broad range of careers they offer, with a spotlight on local employers and priority sectors.

On April 4, students will meet with employers and community representatives to learn more about future education, training, volunteerism, employment and career pathways.

More than 900 grade 8 students from across the Upper Grand District School Board will be in attendance on Tuesday. They will gain insights relating to priority sectors and local opportunities, with the goal of finding meaningful work and fulfilling careers. They’ll also have the chance to learn more about volunteer opportunities, prior to entering high school.

Exhibitors include: Avalon Care Centre, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Dufferin, the Canadian Forces, Conestoga College, Dufferin County Public Works, Habitat for Humanity, Headwaters Health Care, Linamar Corp., Theatre Orangeville and more.
