University of Guelph conducting research study for parents, caregivers and guardians

November 1, 2023

GUELPH, ON – Strengths to Grow is a University of Guelph research project that provides an opportunity for parents/guardians to get a series of online modules for strengths-based parenting. Please see below the information from the University of Guelph.

From Dr. Margaret Lumley’s Research Group

Based on our initial findings, we think the Strengths to Grow Program for parents presents an excellent opportunity to provide wraparound mental health support to students in your school.

Since launching at the UGDSB last year, we’ve had over 700 visitors to the online Strengths to Grow parenting program and over 60% also completed the research surveys providing us valuable information about their experiences.

Parents are reporting that the Strengths to Grow Program is engaging and satisfying, and that they are using program techniques. We are also seeing high levels of engagement from fathers (who are typically hard to engage with parenting initiatives).
