Policy 502 Child Abuse and Protection

Policy Statement

Children have the right to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. Teachers, principals and many other employees of the board are in a unique position to be aware of indicators of possible physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and neglect. Identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect requires every individual to take appropriate action.

It is the policy of the Upper Grand District School Board to provide appropriate procedures and curriculum to support employees who are legally responsible to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect to the proper authorities.
