Policy 508 Educational Field Trips

Public Consultation and Policy Feedback

Public consultation on this policy is now open.  Feedback will be received until October 14, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. EST.

It is the policy of the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) to support school-organized and supervised educational programs and activities which occur beyond the school site that offer educational value to students, enhance the curriculum, and/or support the mission and vision of the board and the school.

The policy and procedures for educational field trips and off-site activities have been updated to provide clarity on the requirements for planning field trips, and the role of principals and staff in ensuring field trips happen equitably and safely.

Policy 508 is important to students, parents, staff, school councils, and community members because many aspects of a school’s programming, both curricular and extra-curricular, involve field trips.

Due to Covid-19, there has been a moratorium placed on international trips and travel for the 2021-22 school year, and as such there are no updated procedures for international trips at this time.
