Welcome back UGDSB to the 2023-2024 school year

GUELPH, ON — Welcome to the 2023-24 school year UG! We are excited to welcome all students, families and staff back and welcome all those who are new to the school board. As you prepare to enter the halls of your school and gear up for the 2023-2024 school year, here are some helpful things to know!
School Directory Page
If you’re looking for information on your child’s home school, you can find it on the School Directory page under the ‘Schools’ tab on the UGDSB website. On this page you can learn what time your child’s school starts and finishes, where it’s located, the school’s number, who the principal and vice-principal are as well as the rest of the administrative staff. From the School Directory page, you can also access the school website that your child goes to, to find out more information about what’s going on in that school.
School Transportation
If you’re looking for information on whether or not your child is eligible to take the school bus or if you want to opt-out of your child having to take the bus or any other bus or school transportation related information can be found on the Wellington-Dufferin School Transportation Services website.
Health and Safety for School Operations
The UGDSB is committed to keeping up consistent health and safety strategies that include frequent hand washing, daily absence tracking, and making the most of our outdoor spaces for learning, these measures contribute to the health and well-being of our students and staff. You can learn more about the UGDSB’s school operations and health and safety information here.
New UGDSB Pathways Website
The UGDSB has also updated their UGDSB Pathways website, this website is a source of information and resources for students K-12 to explore the many pathways their education has to offer. This website is particularly helpful for students in a transitionary period, whether that be from elementary school to high school or graduating high school students.
Elementary Registration
For all new UGDSB students that are entering our board for the first time as students, Elementary Registration Day is August 29th from 1:00-4:00pm. You can learn more about admission and registration here.
Multi-Year Plan
We are now entering year two of the UGDSB’s Multi-Year Plan (MYP). Work will continue this year in our schools and departments to achieve our goals. You can learn more about the core priorities of the MYP 2022-2026 on the board website. https://www.ugdsb.ca/board/ugdsb-multi-year-plan-process/
Wellness Works: Handling the First 9 Days of School
As students and parents/guardians prepare for the new school year, there may be a lot of different emotions. Transition and change can be hard for many and at the UGDSB we want parents and students to know that we have the resources to support you and your child’s mental health as they go along their school journey. Students can check out our Mental Health and Me website for resources and tips about Mental Wellness and parents can check our MHUG Parents website. Students and parents can also look out for our Wellness Works: Handling the First 9 Days of School campaign on social media.
