November 5-11 is Treaties Recognition Week

Treaties Recognition Week is November 5-11, 2023. This year the Upper Grand District School Board is encouraging educators, parents, guardians and students to learn about their local treaty partner, what it means to be a good treaty person and to deepen their learning by considering how they might commit to everyday actions that fulfill their roles and responsibilities as a treaty person throughout their lives.

University of Guelph conducting research study for parents, caregivers and guardians

Strengths to Grow is a University of Guelph research project that provides an opportunity for parents/guardians to get a series of online modules for strengths-based parenting.

At the October 24, 2023, Board Meeting one updated policy was approved and four more were released for public consultation. Members of the public and school communities can provide their input into the draft policies online.

As a united UGDSB community, we are unwavering in our commitment to identifying and dismantling all forms of racism and oppression. Our dedication also extends to specifically addressing Islamophobia. We stand in solidarity with the Muslim community. We acknowledge the profound impact of the tragic loss of members of the Afzal family in London, Ontario, and the observance of the current legal proceedings can have on the well-being of our staff, students, and the broader UGDSB community.

Environment Canada issues heat warning; information for schools

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning today through Wednesday.  Schools are encouraged to limit physical activities with students, ensure frequent water breaks are provided and keep air circulating in learning and working spaces.
