Two students at Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute (CCVI) helped raise over $50,000 for a Relay for Life campaign this May.
Samara Groves launched the campaign as part of a Grade 12 business leadership assignment. With the help of fellow student Karma Durant and teacher Christiane Lopez, they far exceeded their goal of raising $20,000 and ended up with a total of $50,043.31.
Relay for Life events raise money for cancer research by having participants gather at a community space, such as a school, to take turns walking around a track or path to “symbolize the perseverance and action needed to improve lives and change the future of cancer forever.”
