A letter from the Director of Education and the Chair of the Board of Trustees:
We are excited to welcome students and families to the 2025–26 school year at the Upper Grand District School Board!
As a board, our commitment to student achievement and well-being remains unwavering. We are guided by the priorities of our Multi-Year Plan by inspiring a lifelong love of learning, championing health and well-being, leading through sustainability, and ensuring equity of access and outcomes for all students.
We are also placing a renewed focus on AI literacy for both students and staff. In this ever-changing technological landscape, it is essential that our schools not only adapt to new tools but also take up the collective responsibility to guide learners in developing the critical thinking skills they need to navigate them responsibly.
As part of our ongoing Human Rights Review, we are listening carefully to the lived experiences of students, families, and staff to better understand how we can strengthen our practices and policies. Your contributions and reflections continue to be vital in shaping a school system that upholds human rights and ensures dignity, fairness, and respect for all.
We are grateful for your partnership as we work together to ensure every student feels a strong sense of belonging and possibility in their learning journey.
Wishing you all a positive and inspiring school year ahead!
Sincerely,
Peter Sovran, Director of Education
Ralf Mesenbrink, Chair of the Board of Trustees
