Matthew Lyle, Manufacturing Engineering Teacher at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute (GCVI), has won the 2025 Canadian Tooling and Machining Association (CTMA) Trades Ambassador of the Year Award.
The award "recognizes and celebrates individuals who mentor others within the precision metalworking industry, and who go above and beyond to transfer their knowledge and skills."
Lyle taught at College Heights Secondary School for three years before moving to GCVI, where he’s been teaching for the last 10 years.
"Receiving the CTMA Trades Ambassador of the Year Award is an incredible honour," Lyle said. "I’m passionate about inspiring the next generation to explore the opportunities within the skilled trades, and this recognition reinforces how important that work is. It’s rewarding to see students gain confidence, discover their talents, and realize that a career in the trades can be both fulfilling and full of possibility."
The award was handed out at the CTMA annual general meeting in London, Ontario on Thursday, October 23.
