Earlier this month, three grade 11 International Baccalaureate (IB) students at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute executed a project that they had been working on for months.

For their CAS project, students Elena J., Lavanya S., and Shiloh G., decided that they wanted to make a difference in people's lives. An IB CAS project is a student-led collaborative project that integrates creativity, activity and service.

For their project, Elena, Lavanya and Shiloh joined forces because of their love of art. They decided that they wanted to do something that featured art and reached people who may not have access to art supplies. As a result, they decided to put together Art Therapy kits for Guelph General Hospital.

Through a series of fundraisers, door-to-door campaigning and accepting monetary donations from the community, Elena, Lavanya and Shiloh raised $700 to put kits together.

After purchasing and assembling the kits, students were able to present Guelph General Hospital with their donation on March 12, 2026.

Kits included items like crayons, colouring books, markers, pencil crayons, watercolour sets, sketchbooks, and so much more. With the generous donations from their fundraising efforts, they were able to put together 30 kits, 20 for kids, and 10 for seniors.

What a wonderful donation for kids and seniors at Guelph General Hospital - great job!
