AI @ UGDSB
The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) recognizes the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education to foster innovative teaching practices to enhance learning outcomes. At the same time, we are mindful of the ethical, privacy, and equity challenges that AI poses.
UGDSB's Approach: AI Literacy
The Upper Grand District School Board’s AI Literacy Framework focuses on building strong, future-ready learners by strengthening four key areas: math skills, language skills, human rights, and sustainability. Rather than just teaching students how to use AI tools, the focus is on helping them think critically, communicate clearly, and understand the ethical and environmental impacts of technology. This approach ensures students can use AI responsibly, recognize bias, protect privacy, and make informed decisions, while continuing to build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
