GCVI Chamber Choir with Alice Cooper

The GCVI Chamber Choir were invited to perform with rock legend Alice Cooper at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto on Monday, September 29.

With over 15,000 people in attendance, the choir did backup vocals on a mashup of Cooper’s classic hit School’s Out along with Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2

“To have that opportunity, it’s not something any of us in the choir took lightly at all,” GCVI student Quinn Louge Barei told CTV News. “We know that we’re incredibly lucky and we appreciate it so much.”

Last year, the GCVI Chamber Choir performed with indie rockers Modest Mouse in Toronto and with Grammy award-winning choral composer Eric Whitacre at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

"We are fortunate that artists with so many accolades take vested interest in having our very own students from the UGDSB sing with them on world renowned stages," GCVI's choir director Lane Osbourne says .

"Collaborating so closely with [music producer] Bob Ezrin was truly a dream, and Alice and his team were so supportive from start to finish. It is amazing what can happen when kids collectively commit so much of their time to creating great music together."
