At an October 20th Special Board Meeting of the Upper Grand District School Board, Kyle Reaburn was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees.
The Trustee Vacancy Ad Hoc Committee met on September 30, 2025, October 1, 2025 and October 6, 2025 for the purpose of reviewing applications submitted for the trustee vacancy for Ward 6 – City of Guelph and Township of Puslinch, and for shortlisting and interviewing candidates.
On October 6, the Ad Hoc Committee interviewed three candidates and recommended that Reaburn be the successful candidate.
Reaburn ran for School Board Trustee in the 2022 Ontario Municipal and School Board elections. His background is in government relations and the not-for-profit healthcare sector.
Reaburn will serve as a Trustee representing the City of Guelph Ward 6 and Puslinch. The seat was left vacant after Katherine Hauser was selected to fill a vacancy on Guelph City Council. He will serve as trustee for the remainder of the 2022-2026 term.
Kyle was raised in Palmerston and attended Palmerston Public School and Norwell District Secondary School before attending the University of Guelph.
“We welcome Kyle to the UGDSB Board of Trustees. Kyle is a graduate of our board and brings his experience in working with the public in a not-for-profit healthcare setting. He also has life experiences in rural and urban areas of our board, which will serve him well in Ward 6 and the Township of Puslinch. He has shown a commitment to equity, collaboration and communication with the public, as well as a deep understanding of policy and its impact on both organizations and the public served by those organizations,” said Board Chair, Ralf Mesenbrink.
"I’m eager to work alongside families, educators, and my fellow trustees to strengthen public education in our community. Together, we can all create learning environments that inspire confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning,” said Trustee Reaburn.
