SHELBURNE, ON – Asha V., a grade 6 student at Centennial Hylands Elementary School, has earned the impressive title of Fall Fair Ambassador in Shelburne.

Earlier this fall, Asha wrote a short essay about why she wanted to be the Shelburne Fall Fair Ambassador and was chosen to represent the town.

As this year's ambassador, Asha is representing Shelburne and bringing awareness about agriculture to the area. In addition to supporting Shelburne, Asha has supported the Erin Fair, the Grand Valley Fall Fair, and the Dufferin Farm Tour and has been a role model for younger students.

As the Fall Fair Ambassador, Asha participated in a panel interview and made a two-minute speech at the fair.

According to those who know her, what sets Asha apart from others is her ability to step into leadership positions with ease. Asha’s teacher Colleen Bailey said, “It has been such a pleasure to teach Asha for three years now. Her kindness and giving nature make her a true joy to have in my classroom. Asha leads by example, consistently going above and beyond in both our school and the community, inspiring others to strive to be their very best selves. I am so very proud of her being crowned this year’s Shelburne Fall Fair Ambassador!”

In her spare time, Asha assists with teaching dance on the weekends, and she lights up the stage performing in local theatre. Asha’s CHES community is important to her. During her lunch break, Asha volunteers as a lunch helper and a library helper and participates in many clubs.

CHES vice principal Jennifer Robertson said, “We are thrilled to celebrate Asha. She is a positive, helpful, inclusive student who shows up with a smile, works hard, and makes our school a better place. CHES is proud of her accomplishment and excited about what her future holds!”

Asha is passionate about participating in and sharing traditions and wants other kids to enjoy and have fun passing along fair traditions too. She is honoured to help bring farmers together to share their hard work with Shelburne’s growing urban community. When reflecting on being selected Shelburne’s Fall Fair Ambassador, Asha said she would share the following advice with her peers, “Don't give up, keep working towards your dreams. Get involved in your community, make connections, and be confident!”

Congratulations, Asha, on this great accomplishment.
