Students in Westside Secondary School’s LRC10 program are helping make the school more sustainable by taking on leadership of the school’s recycling initiatives.
After winning the first-ever UGDSB Monthly Sustainability Draw, the LRC10 students chose a Terracycle Waste Diversion Box as their prize. This prize helps support their writing utensils recycling program, which includes pens and pen caps, highlighters, mechanical pencils, permanent markers, and dry erase markers.
“We want to keep the world safe. We need to recycle and take care of the world. We have been given the responsibility of keeping it safe,” one student said.
