GUELPH, ON – Grade 10 student, Lauren (Xuyi) Z., has recently been recognized by the University of Waterloo for her result in the recent Canadian Intermediate Mathematics Competition.
Lauren scored 59/60 placing her on the top 5 list of all participants in Canada. As a result of this achievement, Lauren received a $300 cheque from the University of Waterloo.
When reflecting on the competition, Lauren said, “I feel that the most important aspect of this success is that it will bolster me in my competitions and pursuits ahead. I am so grateful to my math teachers for providing me with challenging opportunities, as well as to Mr. Cako [principal of GCVI] for his encouragement and support. I wouldn’t have had the knowledge of or chance to enter this competition - as well as others [at the school] - if they had not been organized at GCVI.”
Congratulations, Lauren, on this incredible achievement.
