The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) is proud to celebrate the success of 18 secondary school students who have officially been signed as Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) apprentices during Semester 1 of the 2025–26 school year.
These students participated in cooperative education placements and, with the support of their schools, families, and community partners, have taken an important step toward a skilled trades career. Employers across the region have agreed to register these co-op students as apprentices, allowing them to begin earning apprenticeship hours while still completing their secondary school diploma.
The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program provides students with hands-on learning opportunities in high-demand skilled trades, helping them build valuable workplace skills, gain industry experience, and transition smoothly into the workforce.
“We are extremely proud of these students for their commitment, hard work, and dedication,” said Joanne Harris, OYAP Coordinator for UGDSB. “OYAP allows students to explore meaningful career pathways while meeting graduation requirements, and the support of our employer partners is essential to this success.”
The Upper Grand DSB would like to thank the local employers who have partnered with our schools and agreed to register students as apprentices. Their mentorship and investment in youth play a critical role in developing the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
