In February, Stephanie Joseph’s kindergarten class, with the help of some older students, at École Guelph Lake Public School started a class project to create a bulletin board for Black History Month.
The theme of this project was created after the class learned from the read aloud book Sulwe, by Lupita Nyong’o. Sulwe shares a story for kids about how all skin colours are beautiful. As a result of this learning, kindergarten students and their older peer helpers created hand-print art and designed the bulletin board for the school foyer.
According to Joseph, some students were so excited about the project they opted to stay in for recess to work on the bulletin board.
Great job creating this bulletin board for all of École Guelph Lake PS to enjoy!
